Yeah! New content baby!

Okay for a long while there has been no real new content on Gens 2. From... July, maybe August, the amount of NEW CONTENT in Gens 2 is highly debatable. I worked on, like, 1 map a week. Thankfully I have turned this trend around and am finally getting back on track with working on this game. I *might* make the March release date, though I'd probably be pushing it at this rate.

I have a new intro and intro menu. Finally, an intro that just CLICKS and everything works and stuff. It's good.

And Rendar has some new content that isn't stale.

Yeah I guess the whole point of this blog is to let people know (though only Kaempfer really reads this) that it is back on track. At fucking last.

Good news and bad news

Alright, I'll start us off on a bad note. I haven't done a whole lot this week on Gens 2. Whoop whoop. That's not really bad, it shows I have some kind of life. Sort of (not really though).

Good news though is that I'm pretty much done with the Ragdum Rebels Sidequest Chain, so it means I can move onto the storyline again, which is good. See, the great thing about this sidequest is that it allowed me to come up with a better ending to Ragdum than I previously had.

Other news, other news... made some new enemy characters, that was kinda cool. Perfected the mobile party switch system. Haven't done anything on any other planets. Oh, yeah, added full functionality for Kurtz as a party member. He's now got a full moveset, and can be levelled up and shit, but I don't think I'll include him as a playable character. I like having him as the quirky NPC.

Fuck it, I'm bored. I'm going to go watch some Hunter x Hunter or Veronica Mars or something.

Another progress report!

Yes, I come bearing horribly boring news, I know, but it's not as if I really have anything interesting to write in this blog. No, I haven't forgotten about the good ole devlog (as my last post would seem to suggest!); I've just been busy as hell studying for my finals and whatnot, and now that they're all over and so's school, I've been taking it easy (very easy) for a few days. Luckily, though, I've made some pretty sweet progress lately.

It's mainly concerning Ragdum, which is rapidly becoming my favourite planet at the moment. There's just so many cool sidestories that I've managed to tie together, and I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out so far. I will give you a hint, play through the Ragdum Rebels Sidequest Chain when you play the game, it will give so much backstory to the whole... well, planet.

Not that you need it to understand the game! It's just one of those things that gives you a lot more if you play it. And hey, it's an extra hour of gameplay. Here I am sounding like some kind of elitist prick though (and hey, it's probably true), so I suppose I should hop off that wagon before it travels too far.

*tumbleweed*

Anyway, yeah. I haven't really done a WHOLE LOT MORE than that. Decided to add some more backstory in other places, and pretty much totally reworked the structure of the Galactic Marines, even though their role in the sequel is... small.

Oh well.

Have a screenshot!

The VERY START of the Ragdum Rebels chain. Who's that familiar looking chap? (I totally don't need that comma)

That's all I'll leave you people with (who reads this anyway?). I promise I'll have some exciting updates soon, I just needed to get this kickstarted first.

Yeah.

Toodle-oo!

Another update!

Okay, as I sit here listening to Colours of the Heart by UVERworld (an excellent anime opening for Blood+), I know that in a week I'll probably have forgotten all about this little devlog. Anyway, I made some progress toady, and seeming as it's close to the 1AM mark again, I figure I may as well mark it.

I haven't actually done a whole lot. ._. Fixed up some bugs in Ragdum, did... two new maps for Narryl. Wait, three. One doesn't count because the actual size is about 8x8 tiles. The other two were fairly big, though. I'm getting through Narryl, though I dropped the 700x700 map idea in order to adopt a more reasonable series of 30x30 or 50x50 (been doing a lot of these lately) maps that are all joined. I've done about 12 or so, halfway there now. Narryl's not got a lot to do once the forest is out of the way, it's just doing the bloody forest that's kicking me in the gonads.

Anyway, I guess since I haven't really got anywhere to post these, I'll show you, the precious readers of this blog (at the moment this amounts to... me), some new screenshots. I'm not posting these in the screenshot thread at GW, nor am I bumping my topic to post these. So these stay here. Ooh.

Yeah, that's really all I've got. Soon enough I'll have Ragdum finished, I actually came up with a really cool plot twist while sweating my ass off in the 40 degree (Celsius!) heat this morning. Cool.

Anyway. Screenshots!

Just a random Narryl map. One of the less impressive ones.

Inside Ferris' mansion. A cult?! Sweet!

Tarin exploring Ragdum's underground network of caves.

Tarin runs into trouble in said caves. Wait, aren't they Gridvayne's men...?

A horribly shitty map from Rendar that I'm showing just so I can say Rendar has had some progress.

Wait. What?

Okay, so I have no idea what I am doing with this site. I thought "hey, making a devlog so I can show off and satiate my soaring ego is a good idea", so I went and checked out TFT's thread in G&ID on GW, and saw that everyone was using x.blogspot.com or something. I thought it would be easy. It's asking for my gmail account (google account, rather), and profile, and names and posts and blogs within blogs and jesus christ I am confused.

Oh well. I'm sure it will all solve itself soon enough when I'm NOT checking the site out at 1AM after a particularly long day.

I don't really have a lot to report today. I've been working a lot more on Ragdum lately, and the other day came up with a totally sweet conclusion to the planet. I've almost got it done now, which is pretty sweet. Rendar's progress is not huge, although I've pretty much completed the Guardian's Cave, minus one story event. Then, you've got all that other bloody junk.

I'm really unimpressed with how I handled Rendar and the Saloan; they don't particularly feel like a threat, so I think I'm going to have to work on that. Maybe adding them into the first paths and not knowing anything about them would help? I'm not sure.

Man, my blogs are mad gay. I'm also almost done with Jarun now, which is cool, because I really like Jarun. I've gotta do the SW Base and the whole Promised Land shit, though. I haven't come up with a proper name for that place yet. The problem with being so close to the end of those three is that I'm only a third done with Narryl, and I hate being forced to work on one planet, which is why I work on Gens the way I do, making sure it's a non-linear experience. Well, as non-linear as I can be bothered to make.

So, yeah. I removed Luce's Charge Up command or whatever it was, because to be frank, it was the most useless of all the abilities, I think. I've redone it to be a "Combo" command now, where you can do two attacks in a row, two skills or two items, so that's pretty sweet, I think. Fair step up from the original shitty thing. I don't even really use any of the characters' commands except for Zandar and Rikari, really, and occasionally Kryon and Rakghoul. Did I release Demo 2 with Zandar's "new" stance command, with the three stances? I can't remember.

Ah well. Finished all the Rahfests, which is cool, they're fully functional.

Oh, fuck it, I'm going to go to bed. I'm tired. Good on you if you've put up with my ramblings this far!

Cheers,
-Christo
